I’ve said that as well. Merchan doesn’t want to do anything weird with fines, like say fining Trump $1,000 per hour his posts remain online after stated deadline, or other ways to try and exceed the $1000 per count limit for contempt as per state law.

Doesn’t the Constitution have a downer on “unusual” punishments in sentencing? I see a lot of “wouldn’t it be great if they did [x] to Trump” and I wonder if the sanction they suggest has ever been applied by law enforcement or the judiciary to anyone else in the United States.
